Position Opening: Communications, Marketing & Digital Strategy

About the Role
South Dakota Farm Bureau is seeking a talented, creative and positive professional in Communications, Marketing & Digital Strategy to lead and execute comprehensive communications efforts that elevate our brand, engage stakeholders and advocate for agriculture across South Dakota.
This individual will shape and amplify SDFB’s voice across digital and traditional platforms, promote organizational priorities, and develop strategic marketing campaigns that showcase the value of Farm Bureau membership and South Dakota agriculture. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Sioux Falls, SD.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Media Relations
Plan and compose press releases, newsletters (both print and digital), talking points, marketing materials and presentations for leadership.
Creative design and editing of programs, fliers, brochures and other print collateral both in-house and overseeing outside vendors.
Work with leadership to plan and implement innovative marketing and communications strategies that align with SDFB’s mission and goals.
Ensure consistent, professional branding across all platforms and materials.
Evaluate current marketing practices and identify opportunities for growth and brand elevation.
Oversee media relations strategies; develop relationships with media outlets and secure earned media for key events, initiatives and leaders.
Ability to create speeches, presentations, and/or written materials for Executive, board of directors, or other staff to communicate with media, members, legislators, elected officials or other industry stakeholders.
Digital Strategy & Social Media
Manage all digital platforms including website, SEO/SEM, email newsletters and analytics tracking.
Place digital advertising and plan digital engagement, using latest technology and trends.
Develop content creation and strategies for all social media platforms, increasing engagement and audience growth.
Develop and manage a content calendar for digital campaigns and social storytelling.
Monitor emerging platforms and industry trends to keep SDFB on the cutting edge of digital outreach.
Visual Media & Design
Produce and edit photo and video content for events, campaigns and social media.
Serve as staff photographer/videographer; maintain digital media library and assets.
Design compelling graphics using graphic design platforms such as Canva (or other emerging tools) for print, web and social media.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, ag journalism, marketing, public relations or related field (required).
• 5+ years of progressive experience in communications, public relations or digital marketing (strongly preferred).
• Deep understanding and passion for agriculture and rural communities (strongly prioritized).
• Accuracy of spelling, names, facts and details are required.
• Proficient in AP-style writing and grammar guidelines.
• Must have an eye for good graphic design, excellent editing and proofreading skills and natural content creation ability.
• Experience in video editing, graphic design and photography a plus.
• Great to have skills in graphic design, Canva, Microsoft Office and content management systems.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects under deadline with attention to detail and strategic insight.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including storytelling and messaging for varied audiences.
